Meet The Painted Parlor, Week 6

Wow!  I'm completely flattered to be asked by Tammy at Type A to be a guest blogger today!  This is my first guest blogging invite, so I'm a little nervous, excited, and thrilled all at the same time.  So here it goes girls....

Hello, my name is Julie and I'm from The Painted Parlor, (I feel like I just joined a support group, haha!)  I have been selling furniture for about 4 years now.  It all started as a little hobby of refinishing my OWN furniture around the house.  I got slightly  addicted to seeing the 'after' of each piece.  Little by little I was spending more time in my office, a.k.a garage, fixing, sanding, priming, painting, distressing, and waxing.  My kids and husband all thought I was a little crazy, and I think they still do ;)  But I LOVE it!!  I find it extremely satisfying to look at a finished piece and say, 'I did that!'  So four years later, I'm still chugging along.  It's not until September of last year I created my own blog.  Thank you Kassie for helping a hobby/business of mine become more of a tangible reality!
So without further ado I thought I'd show you some of my all time FAVORITE before and afters!  Everyone loves Before and Afters, right?!  I don't want to bore you by elaborating on each piece again, so if you're interested in reading more, just click on the links!!
Before.  I love waterfall desks and dressers, so when I saw this I was smitten.  I had to have it!  Click here to read more about this!!

After.   Painted Yarmouth Blue from Benjamin Moore.

I distressed and glazed the edges

And stenciled the top a damask pattern.

Then lined the drawers with a harlequin patterned paper.  So fun.

My next favorite piece is this a.maz.ing antique dressing table.  This I have to say is my favorite of favoritists, (is that a word?)

It started already white, but it was yellowing, cracking in places, and dirty. I gave it a fresh new coat of paint and lightly distressed and glazed the edges.  Click here if you're interested in reading more about this piece.
Before.  A little on the sad side.

After.  There she is standing proud.

Real glass vintage knobs adorn each drawer.

I completely fell in love with this giant scalloped mirror.   Amazing.

My next piece I'd like to show you is this sweet little antique dresser with a mirror.
I didn't attach the mirror for the picture, if you read my blog regularly you'll know I can be pretty lazy sometimes!  But when I saw this, I KNEW it was going to be so adorable.  It told me it needed to be pink, so I listened.  Click here to read more about this!
Before.
After.  There she is blushing pink!  So precious this little piece was, I loved working on it!
It went to a little girls room, where it belonged!

I hope you all enjoyed my guest post as much as I have had putting it together!!  Thank you Tammy for letting me display some of my work and 'brag' a little ;)  I love all the new blogging friends I've made, you're all so inspiring and I've learned so much from you!! Please feel free to visit my little ol' blog sometime, I'd love to have you!!

Thanks Julie for that great guest post, and those fabulous before and after photos!  Girl you are TALENTED!  Thanks for hanging out with us, can't wait to have you back! xx
