More Pink and Gold….

You know me and the gold…lol  it’s an addiction.  Lucky for me it’s not quite as dangerous and my craigslist or cleaning addiction.  They both run me ragged and exhaust my funds.
I was in Lauren’s rom the other day an noticed her little blue basket had been written on, wonder who could have done that?  So I painted it.
I have a before picture but you aren’t going to believe this, my extended hard drive is BROKEN again!  Yep, good old Stanley knocked it off the counter.  It’s not as stressful the second time around.  Especially now that I know the Geek Squad can fix it.  If then can’t I at least have my other old one, and won’t lose everything.  Is this positive thinking or what, I’m not even crying in my ice cream
So here’s the after, sorry about the no before.

Back in place on her desk, it’s kind of a catch all for lip gloss, jewelry and other misc. girly stuff.

I have another fun project to share soon too, as soon as I fix it!  Oops.  Don’t you hate it when you are almost done with a project and then you mess it up?  Yep, me too!

I've jumped on the Flag Wagon....

That was a terrible pun, huh? Yeah, I know.

I decided that this board I've had on my kitchen table for a while now, was due for some paint.

I thought what could be easier than adding some white paint?

I sanded a bit to distress, easy peasy.

Ta da!  Better?  Yes/No?

On the flip side, updated to the 'new blogger' and it stinks.  Hopefully I can work out the kinks, or may have to switch to something else.  Sigh.  It's always something!

Testing…1.2.3.

Ignore this post, I’m just testing my Live Writer.  Actually I’m testing to see if I can use it, it’s pretty technical and all.  Let’s face it, I’m not tech savvy.  I’m not really tech anything.  Insert sad face here!  lol  Fingers crossed this worked and you guys are laughing with me.

Hello Spring Break...

Spring Break just started for my Son, my Daughter has school.  She's in Pre K so they don't really get a Spring Break, and since I'm paying for it, she's going!

The last week has been a little rough.  My Daughter is ornery, to say the least, but lately she's just been down right awful.  I've had to start taking her toys away, and she's been losing privileges left and right.  She doesn't get to go to one of her best friend's birthdays and if she keeps it up, she won't be having a party this year.  It'll just be family with some presents and cupcakes.  I hate to do this, but she has to get under control.  I've been making a point to spend a lot of one on one time with her too.  She's actually doing much better.  Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Then Stanley has developed a food guarding/aggression and we almost took him back to the breeder.  He bit Lauren again, and again drew blood.  He gets one more strike and then he's out.  I talked to a behaviour specialist and I've been working with him every day.  Again fingers crossed.  He's been doing really well, and I hope he continues to do better.  I love him and would hate to not have him, but lets face it Lauren is much more important than the dog.

Today the boy and I bonded over having my blood drawn and peeing in a cup.  Well, he wasn't there for the cup part, and mostly he hid behind a chair for the blood part.  I think he would have rather been in school today.  I don't blame him.  I have a bad gall bladder, and I guess it's about time I had it out.  Sigh.

On a positive note, I'm blogging more this week.  I've made a some great finds too.

I found these great embroidered vintage dish towels.  Aren't the dogs great?
Pots and Pans

Silver

Cups

Glasses

Plates

Of course now I'm on the hunt for more fun vintage fabrics/linens.  I swear I need a 12 step program.  My Hubby would agree.

Next week I should have another finished project to share, for now here's a sneak peak!

Have a great weekend!

My NEW Coffee Table

Just after Hubby went back to Afghanistan, I decided the old coffee table wasn't cutting it.  Plus it didn't help that Beefcake spilled coffee on it twice, and it stained the fabric.  Okay now you are confused, technically it's a coffee table ottoman.

Please excuse the dog proofed couch in the back ground.  lol  I have to cover the cushions with sheets so Stanley doesn't scratch the leather.  I would have the cushions slip covered, but we may have to sell the couch when we get the next house.  I have no idea how my furniture is going to fit.  Long story short, I'm using sheets for the time being.

So I want to paint, I haven't really decided on a color yet, but I did buy a couple birds for the metal cloches, and shopped the house for the rest.

Cute trophy bowl and some design books.

Empty cloche, still trying to figure out what to put in this one.  Maybe a little plant?

Any suggestions on the color to paint, or what to put in the cloche?

Have a great day!

Tray Table Completed!

I'm happy to announce that I have completed a project.  Whew, about time.

I started on this tray table over a month ago.  You are probably asking yourself how she gets anything done when she works this slow.  Trust me, I ask myself this all the time.

Recap of  what the tray table looked like in the beginning.

And this is what it looks like today.  The pefect little end table.  All I need now is some cute stuff to put on top of it.  Hmmm what to hunt for?

It's painted ASCP Coco, I love this color.  Then I traced a stencil on it and painted it with my favorite Martha Stewart Vintage Gold.  I heart GOLD!

Anything Goes #61

Sorry I've been missing in action since the last party.  The garage sale had me busy for a couple of days and then the kids and dog the rest of the time.  lol  We've actually had a pretty rough couple of days, but it's working itself out.  I'll share more in a day or too.

Here's a sneak peak at a project I'm working on.  I've gotten very little done, project wise, but I'm working on it.  I have more to share this week.

Highlights from last week:

Thanks for partying!  Have a great week, stop by tomorrow to see the rest of my tray table!

Splash Your Walls With Color

Splash Your Walls With Color
Article submitted by Christina Johnson

Curious to know what the new color trends are for the spring season? If you’re looking to put a new coat of paint on the wall, there are exciting new color trends to use for guidance. The good news: color is in this season. Instead of relying on the safe, neutral palette that many people have followed in previous years, homeowners are not shying away from color.

One of the most popular colors for the spring season is yellow. Yellow has always been a popular choice for bathrooms and kids bedrooms, but this hue is making its way into living spaces and kitchens. Instead of going for a dull yellow color, opt for a brighter palette that will make the walls pop and the room feel lively. Too pale of a yellow shade can make the room feel dry, so be sure to balance the purpose of the room with a suitable match.

Other popular color trends include pastel greens and blues. With the lighter shades of these colors, they won’t make the room feel small or cramped. Both colors are also associated with nature, so they are the perfect way to bring in inspiration from the outdoors. Blue is especially easy to work with, as it’s cool, casual and trendy. Green has reached new heights, as decorators are valuing what this light and crisp color can do for a room. And if you can’t decide, both colors match well together, so feel free to balance out the tones by painting your walls green and working in blue décor.

As refreshing as pastel yellows, blues and greens are, some people feel that these colors are still too bland. If your taste is more eclectic than that, you’re in luck this spring season. Along with a punch of color is a slice of energetic tones such as tangerine and bright pink. These colors are full of character, so you’ll want to use them with caution. In fact, tones that are this lively are referred to as ‘high impact’ colors.
The advantage to using high impact tones is that you won’t have to do much decorating. These bright and vibrant colors will give the space all the personality it needs, so all you have to do is add in a few matching pillows, a simple throw and artwork, while keeping everything else neutral. You can also choose to use tangerine or bright pink for an accent wall, while painting the other three walls a gray or cream color.

Another trend to keep an eye out for is scented paints. You can enjoy the smell of spring year-round with fresh laundry, wildflower and citrus scented paints.

Anything Goes #60

Party Time!!!  Get your party on and have fun.  I will have some completed projects to share in a couple day and some AMAZING finds too.  Shhh don't tell my hubby.  He hates when I find stuff, it costs him money.  (lucky for him I'm thrifty! ;p)

Here are a couple features from last week.

I hate to cut it short, but I've got to meet my Bestie at the jewelers.  I hope to have something lovely to share with you soon!

Party your hearts out, as much of ANYthing you'd like!  Thanks! xx

Fan Finds...

Get it?  Fan finds...instead of fun finds...lol  Snort. Snort. Yeah yeah, I'm that funny, really.

I found a couple fans and had to share.  I think they will look in the next house in my son's room...or in my garage cause I'm totally in denial and there never will be a next house.  Sigh.

Bonus, they both work, however they may be dangerous.  Little fingers might get caught in them.  They won't be allowed to be turned on and I will probably keep them high up on shelf.  Either way, they will look cool, and some days I'm all form over function.

Needless to the say the boy child wasn't impressed with his new old fans.

Next on the horizon, collecting globes.  I think they would look great in a boys room too, with some vintage luggage and his old typewriter.  He'll have a fun vintage travel room yet!

Chairs, As Promised!

I try to be a woman of my word, some days it works out better than others.  If you read my party post yesterday, then you know I promised pictures of my chairs.  I'm happy to deliver!

TaDa!  Loving the green fabric.  Bestie came over today with her handy dandy pneumatic staple gun.  She put the fabric on, she's a peach.  I took them a part and cleaned the chairs and then she covered them with fabric and helped me reattach the seats.  Easier said then done, the screws didn't not want to cooperate, but in the end we won.  She wanted me to try the staple gun, nope too scary.  lol  Some day, just not today.

This is the only old picture I could find.  I'm so happy to replace these metal chairs.  I've had them for 8 years, they where Beefcake's when I met him.  Needless to say, I didn't fall in love with his chairs.  I will not miss the metal.  They are on my porch right now waiting for the neighbors to come get them.

So I half did a project.  I'm still taking all the credit, shhh, don't tell Bestie!

Today I'm actually covering the chairs, so tomorrow I should have an after to share.  Cross your fingers the pneumatic stapler works.

Apparently I like to punish myself too, I'm going house hunting Thursday.  I swore I wouldn't step into another house until April...Sigh.

Happy Tuesday!

Barbie to the Rescue....

As you know I've been making some changes in Lauren's room.  Today I made a few more.  Actually 4 more.  I have Barbie to thank for the changes.

This is the best before photo I could find, these prints are so cute, but I had to face facts.  Lauren is growing up and her art work needs too as well.

To the rescue, one Barbie Calendar and a pair of scissors.  The frames I have are 12x12, and after you cut the calendar in half, so are the pictures.

I haven't hung them up yet.  I've been debating if I want to hang anything on her freshly painted walls.  I mean do I really want to fill more wholes and touch up paint?  Yes I do.  However, I lost the hanger on the back of one of the frames, so I won't be hanging them today.

I let Lauren pick out all four prints.

Here's a little close up.

You can't beet the price either, only $14 for the calendar and I had the frames.  I have 8 pictures left over too, just in case she wants to change them out.
