Meet Saved by Suzy, Week 26

Hello friends!  I am so pleased to be here.  I'm Suzy and my blog is called Saved by Suzy.  I like to find yard sale and thrift store junk and "save" it by giving it a little makeover.  My blog also chronicles my never ending quest to change things around and beautify my home.

I have never been very crafty or good at doing projects around my house, mainly because I didn't have the confidence to try something new.  All of the things I show on my blog are easy.  If I can do it, I know you can too!  It makes me sooo happy when people tell me they never thought they could paint/refinish furniture/stain/whatever, but they tried it after seeing it on my blog.

Today, I thought I would share some of my favorite things around my home.  I recently got up the courage to paint my piano.  I had been considering it for a while, but the thought of actually doing it was scary.  I don't know what I was scared of...the whole process only took a few hours and the the piano looks sooo much better.

Here's the before - a hulking, dark beast:

P.r.o.j.e.c.t P.I.N.K.

I was really excited when Marilyn from The Artsy Girl Connection asked me to participate in Project Pink, now the excitement has worn off and I'm actually kind of nervous.  I don't have a breast cancer story to share, but I do have breasts, so this is a cause I feel strongly about.  So please make sure you take care of  yours and get mamograms!

I was searching the internet the other day and found some great "Pink" decor I just had to share.

Who knew pink could look so good?

I Just Can't Help Myself....

I can't stop researching things for the next house...I must be a total glutton for punishment?  Maybe I have a screw loose...Ummm, don't answer that.

Right now I'm totally obsessed with tile back splashes.  I know what it is, a chemical imbalance?  Hmmm, I stumped, and yet I still search for wall tiles.

What kind of friend would I be if I didn't share a dozen or so of my favorites.  It's a shame I'll only have one kitchen in the next house.  When it comes time to selecting which tile, I may have to put it to a vote.

Against my Better Judgement....

Let me start out with this, my Hubby is a serious stalker of my blog, and this post will most likely get me in a little trouble.  Maybe even more than a little.

All of you know that we are considering buying a new(er) house, either new to us or just plain new. Being the thrifty gal I am, have started colletcting furniture and other items for the "next" house.  I like to plan ahead, and I hate to miss out on an amazing deal, even if I can't park in the garage this winter.

A Couple Fun Finds....and Pictures of Stanley!!!!

Not really sure what should take top billing here, the finds or Stanley?  lol  Okay, Stanley!  He's pretty awesome, but I'm not gonna sugar coat it, it's been rough.  The kids don't help either. they just aggravate the situation.  They want boss him around, but mostly the just confuse him.

He's really a momma's boy too.  I'm at my desk typing up this post and he's in my lap using my left arm as a sling for his head.  When I watch t.v. he lays by me, when we sleep, he sleeps by me.  I think you get the picture, he likes me.  I like him too.

How can you not love this face!  This is his little bed, by my desk and his elephant, boy does he love that toy!

Anything Goes #40, Highlights from #39

Stanley is home, we got to pick him up Friday night.  I'm exhausted, it's like having a new born that walks and pees!  lol  He's adorable, and I've actually been really happy with his potty training.  Lucky for him!  Now if I could just get some sleep.  I only had to get up once last night, so it's getting better.  No pics since we brought him home, been to busy watching him to photograph him.  :)  Soon I promise.

Chalk Paint, Making Your Own, or Not....

Don't forget to the enter:
MOTHER OF ALL GIVE AWAYS

Well me and the bestie, you know Sommer from Designer Garden, got a wild hair up are you know whats to make our own Chalk Paint.   Yes you read that correctly, make your own chalk paint.

We, and I mean Sommer, found a link to another blog that made their own chalk paint.  How hard could it be?  Don't answer that.  My blender is still pink, shhh don't tell the Hubby.

Okay, so the day started easy enough.  We loaded up the kids, hers any way, and went to one of those stores that sells paint.  Let me tell you, Martha has some fabulous color choices.  I got five samples.  However, I had them mixed in the Behr with primer pots, I thought the primer built in would help.

I'm gonna have to change gears for a second, and I know this may confuse you but I have to share.  I went to Sherwin Williams a few days later and the very nice salesman informed me that it isn't really primer built in, it's just THICKER paint.  R.E.A.L.L.Y.  Well apparently it isn't possible to add primer to paint.

Anything Goes #39, Highlights from #38

No Guest Post Today...

I'm sure you noticed I don't have a guest today.  There were some mix ups and then I couldn't get a hold of some people...but that's okay.  Monday's guest posts will be back on track next Monday.

If you would like to be a guest let me know.

I'm actually working on a project.  It kinda sucks, lets just say I'm not a big fan of stripping something with 4 layers of who knows what on it.  I feel like I've been stripping for days, oh wait...I have.

I've actually made more progress than this, but only marginally and I think a third coat is in my future!

Now what to do with it???

I wish I had a project to share, but I don't....something that included paint...even glue...I really need to get in gear.  R.E.A.L.L.Y.

Okay, so not a project, but I do have this G.R.E.A.T. find!  Now what to do with it, other than the obvious.  Clean it, that is.

Stanley, because you just can't get enough...Right?

Disclaimer:  I did not dress her.  The socks are knee highs.  Apparently she didn't want her shins to be cold.

Guest Bloggers

My guest bloggers series that runs every Monday is running out of guests!  I love the series and would hate to see it go, but it is a guest series, and I can't do it myself.  That would be weird.  If any of you are interested in doing a post let me know.  I have an opening this Monday and every Monday after that.  Okay, maybe I should have said I've ran out of guests.  lol

All righty then, Highlights first, then the party...

Meet A Fabuless Home, Week 24

I’m so excited to be here! Tammy has such an amazing blog and fun personality. I never stop by that I don’t laugh or get inspired or learn something new.

My husband and I recently bought a new-to-us home. The decor was stuck in the 1980s and we’re going room by room and giving it a major facelift. So far we’ve tackled the Family Room, Kitchen, Mudroom, and Powder Room (check out MY HOME TOUR for all the before and afters!). Now we’ve taken on the Dining Room and it’s just in time for a surprise birthday party that I threw for my best friend this past weekend.

Note: I do not recommend attempting a complete room overhaul with just two weeks before a party for 60 people! STRESS!

Here’s the before of the dining room:

Highlights from Party # 36

Well I'm finally caught up.  Mostly.  Okay, not so sure how caught up I am, but I bought batteries for the camera and the house is SPOTLESS!  It only took 5 days.  There's probably more that could be done, but then I would never get any projects or posts done, and now the priority is Highlights!!

I just love my party, and picking Highlights is really HARD, I want to highlight each and every link!  You guys are the best, but I've told you that before.  Tired of hearing it yet?

If I highlight you and you would like a button, they are on my button page.

Where is my Head?

I swear it's attached, which is a good thing, or it would be missing.  I have to thank a fellow blogger, and I've totally forgot, and that stinks!  Shame on me.

I want to thank one of my best bloggy buddies, Chandeen at Designed by Chance, she hosted a My Memories Give Away recently.  Yours truly won!  I can't wait to get started creating with it, but I can't promise when that will happen.  Hoping my crazy life slows down just a tad so I can do some creating.

Here's a sample of what you can do with their stuff, pretty cool!

Thanks again Girl for hosting the give away!!  I can't wait to show you what I make, and thanks for putting up with me!  xx

Anything Goes #37, Highlights from #35

I owe you guys some highlights from party #35, not sure what happened to me last week.

Stanley has me all messed up.  All I can do is think about the puppy, and miss him.  lol  That and this week I may be just as off as last week.  I just started cleaning the house like a crazy version of my regular crazy self.  Crazy?  I know.  It needs it and lets be honest I get the best feeling when I'm cleaning and organizing.  I promise to show off my handy work soon.  I was so giddy today, I bought bins!  lol  Really, it's an illness.

On to the highlights!

Meet Tres Chere, Week #23

Hello Type A readers! We are Angela & Debbie from Tres Chere.

We were thrilled when Tammy asked us to guest post! We have followed her blog since we started back in July. She has been one of our biggest supporters and we just love the sense of community she portrays.

When you visit our blog you will notice that we like to always infuse a little sense of humor in our posts and you will see many projects that have been transformed from items we have found at the curb. Many of our makeovers from chairs, benches, art, coffee tables to dressers cost less than $20.00. We are always looking for ways to make our home more beautiful on the cheap and using what we already have on hand.
The project we are sharing with you today couldn't have timed out any better. We are very behind on our fall decorating so having a deadline actually helped us make it happen!

The Only Project I've Completed in Weeks......

This so counts as a project too, even if paint wasn't involved.  It still took me 6 hours to complete, and in my book this makes it a project.   Really, I could have painted two pieces of furniture in this time frame, so you could consider it two projects.

It was a project of LOVE for sure.  My boy, not pictured, got a gigantic lego set from his birthday.  His crazy mother bought it for him, it was number one on his list.  I should add, I HATE all things Lego.   Love my model?  lol  I took this as I was sorting all the pieces by color, notice half the bags haven't been opened.
