Check out my GIVE AWAY HERE!!
Check out the wall above the leather chair, empty. Until today when I added an art project I've been working on, since May. Really, like May or June. Funny how you start something and then something else pops up, that is more fun and you stop working on it....story of my life really. This project turned out cute and I love it, but I don't see me doing another, EVER!
Ta Da, hand trees, yep that's what I said....hand trees.
Here they are close up. Let me say, I love mod podge, you can do so much with it. The flip side, it's so dang sticky and messy, and I hate being covered in it. If you feel the same way this project may not be for you.
First I wrapped two 16x20 canvases in burlap, I used hot glue to stick it to the back side. Then I used my sizzix to cut out a zillion leaves in NINE different fabrics. Okay that may be over kill, but I like variety. You can use as many different leaf fabrics as you want. Then I traced my kiddos hands on to fabric and cut them out. This is where the mod podge comes in to play. I used it to glue down the hand trunks. I also cut a different fabric for grass. This a close up of Lauren's trees.
When you glue the trunks down, don't do the finger section. Now you want to glue on tons of random leaves, when the leaves are done you can glue the finger section down. Definitely glue the fingers on top of the leaves, or you won't see the hand, and this is what really make the project cute. This is Connor's trees close up.
I'm very happy with how they turned out, I kinda feel like they are missing something. Suggestions are welcome, thanks for stopping by!
