I Put a Bird on it!

When in doubt put a bird on it. Birds make everything better. ASCP doesn’t hurt either.

I went to Hobby Lobby, and bought this adorable stencil. Actually I bought two, but you have to wait to see what I did with that on. bwahahah…that’s my evil laugh, convincing?

Un, Deaux, Trois

No Really. DEAUX! lol I get to live with this error forever. I’m not even gonna try to fix it. I’m over the fixing of this piece actually. Beyond OVER!

I painted it chateaux grey and then decided it was missing something, so my bestie printed out Un DEAUX Trois so I could stencil it. Lucky for her I still LOVE her! lol

Let me tell you this, Susan at Homeroad made these coffee mugs look so easy! Only they aren't that easy! lol They were worth it, but I'm glad they are done. The kids had to watch T.V. upstairs while I was making these. My language was less than desirable for small children. Enough said.

Shower Curtain Make Over

I love Connor and Lauren's bathroom. It's bright and fresh, and has one of my favorite color combinations in it. Yellow, gray and white. I really love these together, and it looks so good in their bathroom However, it is next to impossible to find a shower curtain to go with this color scheme. So what's a girl to do? Well, paint a shower curtain? Stencil it to be exact.

Lauren was my little helper, well really she just posed for this and left to play Ben 10 with her brother. She did bring me the camera so I could get some pics of the project. That counts as help, right?

I used regular acrylic paint from Michael's, think it was $.79 a bottle, and I used one. The curtain, I bought it at Marshall's for $7 last summer.

Please ignore the wet spot at the top, I made an oopsies, and had to clean it up. It came out and dried fine, thank goodness. Glad the kids were upstairs playing at this point, or they would have learned a few new words! doh!

In place, it dried really fast, and fyi I had to clean paint of the kitchen floor. No big deal, came right off. I only stenciled the one stripe, I could have done more, but really wanted something asymmetrical and geometric looking.

There bathroom is pretty small, making it hard to photograph. I just wanted to show you the rest of it.

Their initials are on the wall opposite the shower, next to the sink. Really easy project, I just bought the letters and ampersand and painted them white.

I made these too, just some canvas, stencils and paint. Instant Live, Laugh, Love art.

The Seven Deadly Sins

Promise, not here to preach, just to share. A while back I found this awesome collection of plates with the Seven Deadly Sins stenciled on it, but the price was way out of my comfort zone. I'm not afraid to admit that I'm cheap. I'm actually quite proud of it. lol

The first thing I thought when I saw the plates was 'I can do that'. Then I had to actually figure out what this would involve. Where am I gonna find the plates? Where am I gonna get the stencils? What kind of paint to do you use on porcelain? Maybe I should just buy the ones I saw?

It didn't happen over night, but I eventually answered all of my own questions. First I hunted up the plates. Which was actually dang easy. Replacements Ltd. is the place to go for plates. The prices range from $-$$$$, so it's whatever you feel like spending. They package them great, and the shipping was not outrageous. All seven of my plates delivered cost $55. I was very happy with the price, and this was on the low end. None of the plates cost over $10 and the average was $6.50.

On to where I got the stencils. I love all things Etsy, and there are some great stencil shops to be found. I used Red River Stencils and Crafts to create my one of kind copies! lol It was super easy, I contacted them to see if they would do a custom order and they did. I wanted a pretty font, not sure of the name, with lots of detail. If I had to do this again, I would want less detail, easier to stencil. They had great customer service and were pretty fast for a custom order. Took them less than 10 days to get them to me.

The shape of this one is what caught my eye. Who wouldn't Envy this little plate? I think the rest of them do.

I bought the stencil paint at Joann's, they have some just for porcelain. I was happy with how fast it dried, and it doesn't take a lot. Just a tip, I bought bread and butter plates, you can buy salad or dinner, really whatever size you want. I wanted them to be smaller, they are around 6.5 inches in diameter. Here's the tip, if you use a smaller plate cut your stencil down to fit inside the rim (all my stencils were rectangular when I got them), it'll pucker if you don't and you'll have to repaint it...don't ask. When it was all said and done I saved 50%. That always makes me happy!
